Spring 2026
Over several weeks The DofE group spent time working alongside the dedicated ground staff at Bryn Bach Parc to help restore and remake a well‑used path winding through the park. Armed with tools, teamwork, and plenty of determination, the young participants cleared overgrown sections, levelled uneven ground, and laid fresh material to create a safer and more accessible route for visitors. The collaboration not only improved the local environment but also gave the group valuable hands‑on experience, a sense of pride in their community, and a deeper appreciation of the effort that goes into maintaining such a beautiful public space.
Outreach pupils took on the challenge of climbing Pen Y Fan with determination and teamwork, turning the steep paths and sweeping ridgelines into an unforgettable learning experience. As they made their way to the summit—the highest peak in South Wales—they encouraged one another, built confidence with every step, and discovered the rewards of perseverance in the outdoors. Reaching the top gave them not only breathtaking views across the Brecon Beacons, but also a shared sense of achievement that will stay with them far beyond the mountain itself.
